A signal of hope for Iran’s women
ISHR congratulates Narges Mohammadi on the Nobel Peace Prize
Iranian human rights activist Narges Mohammadi has been awarded this year’s Nobel Peace Prize for her tireless efforts. The International Society for Human Rights (ISHR) congratulates the Iranian woman from the bottom of its heart. This prize also goes to the women who are systematically discriminated against by the Islamist dictatorship, ISHR said.
“A very good sign, a strong signal of hope – we are happy with Narges Mohammadi and all women of Iran,” ISHR Secretary General Matthias K. Boehning jointly emphasized after the announcement of the award.
The fate and courageous commitment of Narges Mohammadi is symbolic of many women in Iran whose human rights are suppressed and who do not want to simply accept this. They demand the same rights as men in society, want to have their say, be heard and peacefully stand up for self-determination. Narges Mohammadi has been standing up for her fellow Iranians selflessly and with the greatest courage even from prison for years, ISHR reports.
Her determination, courage and will are a great example to everyone. The decision to award her the Nobel Peace Prize gives hope to the thousands of oppressed women of Iran.
