A journalist and fact-checker from Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Asal has dedicated her career to combating misinformation and addressing community issues through impactful journalism.

Currently working with Anhor.uz and Factchecknet.uz, Asal is a relentless advocate for media integrity. She is also pursuing her degree in Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Uzbekistan (2021-2026). Her dedication to her craft and leadership in the field earned her recognition as one of Uzbekistan’s Top-100 Student Leaders in 2022. Beyond reporting the news, she has contributed to academic discourse, authoring several scientific publications on media influence.

Asal’s influence extends beyond journalism. She has participated in numerous international training programs focusing on data journalism, public procurement transparency, and media literacy as well as enhancing critical skills in an age where digital misinformation threatens public discourse. Her work doesn’t stop at uncovering the truth; she is deeply invested in gender equality and the fight against cultural stereotypes that limit women’s roles in society.

At the heart of her activism is the Equal Voices campaign, an initiative aimed at challenging gender stereotypes and breaking cultural barriers that women in Uzbekistan face. Through this campaign, she is creating a space where women’s voices are heard, valued, and empowered.
