Home/Mahmoud Shafiq sprengte sich am 11. Dezember 2016 während eines Gottesdienstes in der St.-Peter-und-Paul-Kirche in Kairo in die Luft. Er tötete 29 Menschen – überwiegend Frauen und Kinder – und verletzte über 40 weitere, zum Teil schwer. Die Kirche liegt unmittelbar neben der Kathedrale von Kairo, dem Symbol des christlichen Ägyptens.
