The Archbishop of the Anglican Church in Northern Nigeria, Ali Buba Lamido, is coming to Germany to talk about the persecution of Christians in his home country. The meeting is organized for the eighth ecumenical congress “Persecution of Christians today. Global Religious Freedom – Growing Churches” in Schwäbisch Gmünd, which will take place from 9 to 12 November 2025. The Christian Guest Centre Schönblick and the Protestant news agency IDEA are inviting people to attend. The ISHR will be among the 40 or so partners presenting their work there. Matthias K. Boehning, ISHR General Secretary, will take part in a panel discussion.

The event is aimed at fostering encounters, networking, and joint planning opportunity. Above all, we expect to receive plenty of first-hand information: for example, a Christian from India, Vijayesh Lal, head of the Evangelical Alliance will be there, he will report on the increasing persecution situation under the Hindu nationalist ruling party BJP. China expert Adrian Zenz will also be in attendance, along with speakers from Cuba, Pakistan, Syria, Sudan, and Ukraine.
