Regime Expropriates Shot Protesters
Thousands killed; arrests and executions now looming
Iranian authorities intend to take action against detained protesters with “swift decisions and harsh punishment.” According to Prosecutor General Mohammad Movahedi Azad, even protesters who were shot dead are to be expropriated retrospectively. The International Society for Human Rights (ISHR) strongly condemns the inhumane practices of the Islamic Republic of Iran. It calls on European policymakers to go beyond mere words of warning. In particular, ISHR requests that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps be finally placed on the terrorist list.
During the nationwide protests against the regime in Iran, several thousand people have been shot dead by regime forces. Initial reports put the death toll at more than 12,000, though far higher figures are expected. Protesters were deliberately shot in the head and the heart. Due to the internet blackout, only limited information is reaching the outside world. Regime representatives have announced that detained individuals will be severely sentenced. The first executions are feared. The ISHR is calling on the German government to immediately impose a ban on the activities of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. This step must then be taken without delay at the European level.
