After learning about the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Syria, he decided to support the civilian population through monetary donations. As a result, he was sentenced to 18 years’ imprisonment on charges of “terrorism” (Article 205 of the Russian Criminal Code). He is currently being held in Penal Colony No. 3 in the city of Skopin (Ryazan Region, Russian Federation).
