A Pillar of  Strength

In the heart of Wakiso District, Nsumbi Village is a one Nantumbwe Prossy who stands as a symbol of hope, compassion, and dedication. At 43 years old, she juggles multiple roles as a Village Health Team (VHT) worker, a para social worker, a restaurant owner, and a devoted mother of six. Despite her already demanding responsibilities, Prossy has also opened her home to two foster children over the past two years, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to the well-being of her community.

Prossy plays a crucial role as a Village Health Team (VHT) member, bridging the gap between healthcare services and her community. She conducts health education sessions, promotes routine immunization, and supports maternal and child health initiatives. From malaria prevention to HIV/AIDS awareness, she ensures that families receive accurate information to make informed health decisions. As a para-social worker, she assists victims of sexual violence, vulnerable families, and orphans, collaborating with local authorities to provide care and protection.

She is also a businesswoman, running a small restaurant, Tasone, which supports her family and provides employment opportunities. Her restaurant serves as a community gathering space, fostering unity among community members. Despite the challenges of raising six children, she has opened her home to foster two more, offering them stability and a loving environment. Her selfless dedication to both her community and family reflects her unwavering commitment to uplifting others.

“Protecting children is something we all need to do despite age, race and color.”
