Women are often the most severely affected sufferers from wars, conflicts and global crises – challenges well known and repeatedly emphasized on every International Women’s Day on March 8 of every year.

While the war in Ukraine continues to keep the world on tenterhooks, although the tide seems to be slowly turning, two other issues with direct human rights relevance come into focus for us this November.

As the global recession in democracy and rise in authoritarianism deepens, the International Society for Human Rights (ISHR) upholds their comprehensive efforts in advocating for and supporting those fighting for their civil and political rights worldwide. The year 2021 marks the 15th consecutive year of decline in global freedom, the Freedom in the World Report 2021 states.
