Roman comes from the town of Enerhodar and worked as an electrician at the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant.
Abduction
Roman was arbitrarily arrested by Russian FSB officers at the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant on 12 January 2023 and initially taken to the remand prison in the city of Enerhodar. One month later, on 10 February 2023, he was abducted to an unknown location.
On 13 February 2023, Roman’s relatives saw him in a propaganda video on a Russian social network. In the staged video, Roman was allegedly expelled from the Zaporizhzhia region by the Russian military. However, he never appeared in the territory controlled by Ukraine.
Roman’s family was able to obtain some information about him from Olena Yahupova, who was detained with Roman in February and March 2023 in a labour camp in the village of Verkhnya Krynytsya in the Zaporizhzhya region. Olena reported that she had spoken with Roman between periods of forced labour. In March 2023, Roman and another prisoner disappeared from the camp. To date, the family has no information about Roman’s whereabouts.

Before his capture, Roman had no health problems. Since his abduction, nothing more is known about his health.
