Yurii Kaiov is from Kherson City. Before his capture, Yurii worked as a businessman and volunteered for the Ukrainian Red Cross.

Abduction

On August 5, 2022, Yurii was arrested by the Russian military during a humanitarian mission while attempting to escape from the occupied village of Skelky (Zaporizhzhia Region). Yurii is currently being held in Detention Centre No. 1 in Rostov-on-Don, Russia. He is accused of violating Article 30 (Preparation of a Crime) and Article 361 (Act of International Terrorism) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and has been unlawfully charged on arbitrary grounds.

Health status

Yurii has problems with his blood pressure and suffers from a heart block. It is unknown whether and how his health has deteriorated since his abduction.
