ISHR Annual General Meeting 2020

Human Rights Work for Freedom and Peace

Cordial invitation to the 48th annual and general meeting of the ISHR on the 13th and 14th March 2020 at the Gustav-Stresemann-Institut in Bonn (Langer Grabenweg 68).

1989 and 1990 were politically and historically exceptionally lucky years. The communist dictatorships of Eastern Europe fell one after the other like dominoes. On the 9th of November 1989 the Berlin Wall fell. The reunion of Germany finally followed on the 3rd of October 1990. The ISHR played a part in this development with its care of many political prisoners and its public relations work. This year, many events commemorate these occasions. This gives us reason to discuss with you the focal points of the human rights work of the ISHR 30 years after the fall of thfe Wall.

We will also talk about our current working focuses, such as our humanitarian aid in Iraqi Kurdistan. Since the attack of the IS on Shingal in August 2014, the ISHR has been in northern Iraq more than 30 times with humanitarian aid transports and relief operations. During each visit, newly arrived IS victims were interviewed and their fates documented. Our educational training initiatives such as literacy courses and sewing workshops as well as the promotion of sports are already in their fourth year.

We look forward to your attendance!
