Dear members, friends, partners and supporters of the International Society for Human Rights, we are living in challenging times and there seem to be ever more new crises. This makes it all the more important that we do our work courageously and tirelessly.

Dear members, friends, partners and supporters of the International Society for Human Rights, I greet you all on today's International Day of Democracy.

Dear members, friends, partners and supporters of the ISHR, on behalf of the ISHR Secretariat in Bonn/Germany, I am delighted and humbled to greet all supporters of global human rights work associated with us for the German summer break.

A busy time is behind us: after a long break, partly due to Covid, we were finally able to hold an International Council meeting in person and gather numerous representatives from National ISHR Sections and Working Groups in Bonn.

Women are often the most severely affected sufferers from wars, conflicts and global crises – challenges well known and repeatedly emphasized on every International Women’s Day on March 8 of every year.

At the beginning of the new year we greet you warmly as President and Secretary General from the International Secretariat in Bonn/Germany.

While the war in Ukraine continues to keep the world on tenterhooks, although the tide seems to be slowly turning, two other issues with direct human rights relevance come into focus for us this November.
