Annual Meeting of ISHR’s German section

The German Section of the International Society for Human Rights organizes its 52nd Annual Conference on 20/21 April 2024 in Bonn. Guided by the overarching topic “War in Europe – Stand up for human rights – right now!” participants will be able to listen to presentations by Lev Ponomaryov (Co-founder of the Russian human rights organization “Memorial” and Former member of the Duma), Karinna Moskalenko (Armenian-Russian lawyer before the European Court of Human Rights)

Greetings will be delivered by Michael Gahler (Member of the European Parliament and the European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs), Roderich Kiesewetter (Member of the German Bundestag and its Committee on Foreign Affairs) as well as Peter Heidt (Member of the Bundestag and Spokesperson for Human Rights and Humanitarian Aid of the FDP parliamentary group in the Bundestag).

The agenda also includes country reports from ISHR’s work in Ukraine (Anton Alekseyev),  Belarus (Olga Karach, Nash Dom),  Moldova, Lithuania – Iran, Iraq (Karzan Noori Othman, Barsani Foundation) and Pakistan (Aneeqa Anthony, The Voice Society). Moreover, on Saturday evening, the Stephanus Foundation’s award will be presented to an Armenian award winner. The gathering will be closed with a speech by Prof. Dr. Thomas Schirrmacher, President of the International Council of the IGFM and General Secretary of the World Evangelical Alliance.
